New Features
  • New 2009 CAD loaders - CATIA, Unigraphics, Inventor, IGES, JT, Parasolid, Pro/ENGINEER, SolidEdge, SolidWorks ACIS Text, STEP files, and VDAF. Note that these are our recommended readers, and will be replacing the Method A and Method B readers.
  • Support for CADDS files using new 2009 CAD loader.
  • Support for encryption of *.rh format when saving.
  • Delete Button now in the layers pane.
  • RHJob - a utility which allows import and export operations to be run in separate processes, maximizing and optimizing the use of memory, as well as protecting against crashes and memory corruption from 3rd party libraries used by RH plugins.
  • Visual Compare tool: new UI and workflow.
  • Ability to output model views to video, via right-click.
  • Additional cutting options.
  • Thumbnails now created for steps, procedures, and model views.
  • Drag & Drop animation sequences onto Steps.
  • Preview button when rendering to video.
  • Bezier splines now supported for *.rh, *.svg and *.ai files.

Known Issues
  • ProE Wildfire v4 files are not supported for this release. This will be fixed in the next release.
  • Bezier splines - splines are not handled well with large, complex files and when rendering hidden lines.
  • RHJob disabled for Maya, 3DS Max, Illustrator and Inventor at this time. Additionally, RHJob has limitations when loading large, complex files.
  • SDRC Ideas and XVL Lattice formats are no longer supported.
  • Output from Steps, along with subtitles, can be viewed in View>Viewports>OutputSize Preview. The viewport does not respond until the camera is changed.
  • Pixel output sizes in "Render Properties" are not correctly displayed in the viewport when "show output size" is turned on.
  • Start /End pauses for steps are not being transferred to 3D PDF.
  • Subtitles are shown outside the output window.
  • Product Activation for 5.7: Existing users who have either a stand-alone fixed or network fixed/floating license will have to activate 5.7 when installed.

Installation

Installation whilst maintaining a version of Deep Exploration 5.0.x on the same machine

DE 5.7 installs into a separate folder by default. In addition, there are separate start menu entries for each. For DE 5.6 users, your product activation codes will be used, so there is no need to re-activate. Thumbnails however, will need to be re-generated as these are stored separate from existing.

Upgrading to Deep Exploration 5.7

When upgrading to Deep Exploration 5.7, you may either un-install and then install the latest build, or just upgrade by installing over the existing build.

Notes

Before installing Deep Exploration, we advise closing all applications.
